Slider Buns and Topping
- 1 pack Hawaiian Rolls (12 mini)
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Shrimp Mixture
- 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 cup celery, finely diced
- 1/2 red onion, finely minced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
- 3/4 cup cream cheese, room temperature
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the sliders.
- Make Shrimp Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the finely chopped shrimp, lemon juice, celery, red onion, garlic, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, fresh dill, cream cheese, shredded mozzarella, salt, and pepper. Stir well to mix all ingredients evenly.
- Prepare Butter Topping: In a medium bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder and red pepper flakes thoroughly.
- Assemble Sliders: Split the Hawaiian rolls horizontally. Place the bottom halves in a 9×13 inch baking pan. Lightly brush the bottoms with half of the butter mixture.
- Spread Shrimp Mixture: Evenly spread the shrimp mixture over the bottom halves of the buns.
- Top and Butter: Place the top halves of the buns over the shrimp mixture. Brush the tops with the remaining butter mixture.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes, until the cheese is melty and the buns are golden brown.
- Rest and Serve: Remove from oven and let the sliders cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy your delicious sliders!
Notes
- Use freshly cooked shrimp boiled with lemon and salt, then chilled quickly in ice water to keep shrimp firm and flavorful.
- Let the shrimp salad chill in the fridge for 15 to 30 minutes after mixing to develop the flavors.
- Pre-cooked frozen shrimp can be used if short on time, and bottled lemon juice is an acceptable substitute for fresh.
- Spray a little olive oil in the baking dish to prevent rolls from sticking and ease cleanup.
- These sliders are perfect for quick meals or lunchboxes and can be doubled for parties or picnics as leftovers taste great.
