Ingredients

Scale

For the Ground Beef:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

For the Skillet:

  • 1 small head of cabbage, chopped
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil: In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil. Add chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté until onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Cook ground beef: Add ground beef to the skillet; cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks, approximately 5-7 minutes.
  3. Season beef mixture: Season the beef mixture with garlic powder, red pepper flakes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  4. Add cabbage and tomatoes: Stir in chopped cabbage and diced tomatoes (with their juice). Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low.
  5. Simmer: Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender, about 25 minutes.
