These Grilled Cheese Patty Melts combine juicy, flavorful beef patties with melted Colby-Jack cheese, sandwiched between crispy, buttery slices of white bread. This comforting and satisfying sandwich is perfect for a hearty lunch or dinner and is easy to prepare on a griddle.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Patties

  • 1 lb 85% lean ground beef
  • 3 tbsp chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Montreal-style steak seasoning

Sandwich

  • 2 tbsp butter, softened (or as needed)
  • 6 slices white bread
  • 6 slices Colby-Jack cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Patties: In a bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped parsley, finely chopped garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and Montreal-style steak seasoning. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated. Shape the mixture into 3 equal-sized patties.
  2. Cook the Patties: Heat a nonstick griddle or skillet over medium heat. Cook the beef patties for 4 to 6 minutes on each side or until they reach the desired doneness. Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches at least 160°F (71°C) for safety. Once cooked, remove the patties from the griddle and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Bread: Warm a second griddle or clean pan over medium heat. Butter one side of each slice of white bread evenly with softened butter.
  4. Assemble the Sandwiches: Place half of the buttered bread slices, butter-side down, onto the warm griddle. On each slice, layer one slice of Colby-Jack cheese, one cooked beef patty, and another slice of cheese on top.
  5. Complete and Grill: Top each with the remaining slices of bread, butter-side up. Grill the sandwiches for 6 to 10 minutes, flipping once halfway through, until the bread is a golden brown and the cheese has melted completely.
  6. Serve: Remove the grilled cheese patty melts from the griddle, let them cool slightly, then slice and serve immediately for a delicious, hearty meal.

Notes

  • You can substitute Colby-Jack cheese with cheddar or American cheese if preferred.
  • Use whole wheat or multigrain bread for a healthier twist.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste or add onions or pickles inside for extra flavor.
  • Ensure the beef patties are cooked thoroughly to avoid foodborne illness.
  • Butter can be replaced with mayo or oil if desired for grilling.
