Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Oat Log Cake

  • 1.25 cups pistachio cream
  • 3/4 cup toasted kataifi (made by sautéing 3/4 cup kataifi with 1 tablespoon butter)
  • 1 cup chopped dark chocolate
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 1.5 cups chocolate mousse
  • Optional: Pistachio kataifi bites for decoration

Instructions

  1. Make the chocolate oat cake: Prepare the chocolate oat cake as per the instructions in the ingredient list or your preferred chocolate oat cake recipe. Allow it to cool completely before proceeding.
  2. Prepare pistachio cream: While the cake cools, make the pistachio cream or pistachio butter using a trusted recipe or the linked recipe in the ingredient list.
  3. Toast kataifi: In a pan over medium heat, sauté 3/4 cup kataifi with 1 tablespoon of butter until lightly browned and crisp. Remove from heat and let cool.
  4. Combine kataifi with pistachio cream: Mix the toasted kataifi into the prepared pistachio cream or pistachio butter until evenly incorporated.
  5. Melt dark chocolate ganache: Using a double boiler setup, place chopped dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water. Stir continuously while melting. Once melted, whisk in 1/4 cup almond milk until smooth and glossy. Remove from heat.
  6. Apply ganache to cake: Slather the cooled chocolate oat cake evenly with the prepared chocolate ganache, spreading a smooth layer over the entire surface.
  7. Add pistachio kataifi filling: Spoon the pistachio kataifi mixture over the chocolate ganache layer and smooth it out using the back of a spoon for even coverage.
  8. Roll the cake: Carefully roll the cake with the fillings inside, creating a tight log shape. Wrap the rolled cake tightly in plastic wrap.
  9. Chill the roll: Place the wrapped cake in the freezer for 1 hour or in the refrigerator for up to 3 hours to firm up and set the flavors.
  10. Top with chocolate mousse: Remove the chilled cake and spread the chocolate mousse evenly over the outside of the roll using a spatula or knife.
  11. Finish with ganache drizzle and decoration: Reheat any leftover chocolate ganache gently until pourable, then drizzle over the cake. Decorate with pistachio kataifi bites and chopped pistachios for added texture and visual appeal.
  12. Serve and enjoy: Slice the Dubai Chocolate Roll Cake and serve with a mug of coffee, tea, or almond milk for a delightful dessert experience.

Notes

  • Ensure the cake is completely cooled before applying the ganache to prevent melting.
  • Use high-quality dark chocolate for the best flavor in ganache and mousse.
  • Kataifi can be found in Middle Eastern or specialty grocery stores; toast carefully to avoid burning.
  • Plastic wrap helps the roll keep its shape during chilling.
  • The cake can be made a day ahead and refrigerated for convenience.
  • For a nut-free version, substitute pistachio cream with a suitable alternative, though flavor will differ.
