Puff Pastry:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons water
Almond Filling:
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds
Glaze:
- 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare Puff Pastry: In a medium bowl, cut 1/2 cup butter into 1 cup flour. Stir in 2 tablespoons of water to form a dough. Divide the dough in half and pat each half into a 12×3 inch rectangle on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Make Almond Filling: In a saucepan, bring 1 cup of water and 1/2 cup of butter to a boil. Remove from heat, stir in 1 cup of flour and almond extract. Beat in eggs one at a time until smooth.
- Assemble and Bake: Spread the egg mixture over the dough rectangles. Bake for 50-60 minutes until golden and crisp. Cool completely.
- Prepare Glaze: Whisk confectioners’ sugar, milk, and almond extract. Drizzle over puffs and sprinkle with sliced almonds.
