Ingredients

Scale

Meat Filling

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

For Wrapping and Frying

  • 1 package egg roll wrappers
  • Water, for sealing egg roll edges
  • Oil, for frying (enough to cover bottom of skillet)

Instructions

  1. Sauté Onions and Garlic: In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, heat the olive oil and add the diced onions and minced garlic. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the onions become translucent and fragrant.
  2. Cook Ground Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook and crumble the beef until it is thoroughly browned with no pink remaining, approximately 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add Seasonings: Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly to combine all the flavors evenly throughout the meat.
  4. Mix in Cheese: Remove the cooked beef mixture from heat and transfer it to a bowl to cool slightly. Once warm but not hot, fold in the shredded cheddar cheese so it melts slightly and blends with the beef.
  5. Wrap Eggrolls: Lay one egg roll wrapper flat on a clean surface. Moisten the edges with water to help seal. Spoon a generous amount of the beef and cheese filling into the center. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides, and roll tightly, sealing the top edge with more water.
  6. Fry Eggrolls: In a clean skillet, pour enough oil to cover the bottom and heat over medium-high heat. Carefully add the egg rolls to the hot oil, cooking for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides.
  7. Drain and Serve: Remove the fried egg rolls using a slotted spoon and place them on a napkin-lined plate to absorb excess oil. Serve immediately while warm for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Ensure the filling is cooled slightly before wrapping to prevent the egg roll wrappers from tearing.
  • Use water to seal the egg rolls properly to avoid them opening during frying.
  • You can bake these egg rolls at 400°F for 15-20 minutes as a healthier alternative to frying.
  • Serve with ketchup, mustard, or your favorite burger sauces for dipping.
