  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup cold water

Filling:

  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Add the cold, cubed butter and mix until coarse crumbs form. Gradually add cold water, form into a disk, and refrigerate.
  2. Roll Out the Dough: Preheat oven to 400°F. Roll out the chilled dough, cut into squares, and roll each square into a 1/4 inch thick rectangle.
  3. Make the Filling: Mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Assemble: Place cream cheese mixture on each square, fold corners towards the center, and seal.
  5. Egg Wash: Whisk beaten egg and milk, brush over each Danish.
  6. Bake: Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Cool before serving.
