4.4 from 248 reviews

Boursin Chicken is a creamy, flavorful dish featuring tender chicken cutlets cooked in a rich garlic and herb Boursin cheese sauce. Perfectly seared chicken is smothered in a luscious sauce made from garlic, chicken broth, and Boursin cheese, making it an easy yet elegant meal ideal for serving over mashed potatoes, pasta, or rice.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 chicken cutlets (or 2 large chicken breasts, sliced in half lengthwise to make thinner cutlets)
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Cooking

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 1 (5.2 ounce) package Garlic & Fine Herbs Boursin cheese
  • Chopped fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken: Pat the chicken cutlets dry and evenly season both sides with salt and black pepper to enhance their natural flavor.
  2. Sear the chicken: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Cook in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Remove chicken from the skillet and keep warm by covering.
  3. Sauté the garlic: Add butter to the same skillet. Once melted, stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  4. Deglaze and simmer: Pour in the chicken broth, scraping the bottom of the skillet to release any browned bits stuck to the pan. Let the broth simmer for 2 to 3 minutes to reduce slightly and concentrate flavor.
  5. Create the Boursin sauce: Stir in the Garlic & Fine Herbs Boursin cheese, breaking it up with a spoon and whisking continuously until the cheese has melted and formed a smooth, creamy sauce.
  6. Finish cooking the chicken: Return the chicken cutlets to the skillet, spoon the sauce over the top, and simmer together for another 2 to 3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  7. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the dish if desired, and serve the Boursin chicken over mashed potatoes, pasta, or rice for a complete meal.

Notes

  • To ensure even cooking, slice large chicken breasts into thinner cutlets.
  • Use a non-stick or stainless steel skillet for best results when searing the chicken.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, simmer it a bit longer before adding the chicken back to the pan.
  • Garlic & Fine Herbs Boursin cheese adds both creaminess and robust flavor, but you can substitute with a similar soft herb and garlic cheese spread if unavailable.
  • This dish pairs beautifully with mashed potatoes, pasta, or steamed rice to soak up the creamy sauce.
