Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients:

  • 3 cups (380 grams) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • 2 sticks (227 grams) unsalted butter, at cool room temperature (67°F)
  • 1/2 cup (100 grams) granulated sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups (247 grams) lightly packed light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature

Additional:

  • 2 cups (340 grams) semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 350ºF. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugars: In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy. Add vanilla and eggs, beat until combined.
  4. Add Flour Mixture: Gradually beat in the flour mixture. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  5. Chill Dough (Optional): Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 24 hours. Let dough sit at room temperature until soft.
  6. Bake: Divide dough into balls, place on baking sheets. Bake for 11-13 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Cool and Store: Cool for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Notes

  • For thicker, chewier cookies, refrigerate the dough before baking.
  • Do not overbake; cookies will continue to cook as they cool on the baking sheet.
  • Experiment with different types of chocolate chips for varied flavor profiles.
