Saltine Crackers

Toffee Layer

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar

Topping

  • 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare Crackers: Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  3. Make Toffee: In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it reaches a boil. Let it boil for 2-3 minutes without stirring.
  4. Layer Toffee: Pour the hot toffee mixture over the saltine crackers, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  5. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes until the toffee is bubbling.
  6. Add Toppings: Immediately upon removing from the oven, sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Let them sit for a minute to soften, then spread the melted chocolate over the toffee layer.
  7. Finish: In a small bowl, mix together the cinnamon and granulated sugar. Sprinkle this mixture over the melted chocolate. Finish by lightly sprinkling sea salt over the top.
  8. Cool and Enjoy: Allow the toffee to cool completely at room temperature, then break into pieces and enjoy!
